Hard Drive
The standard Xbox 360 console comes with a 60 GB hard drive. The Xbox 360 Elite has a 250 GB hard drive. The larger hard drive size allows players to get more content from the Xbox Live store. Prior to 2008, the standard Xbox 360 console only had a 20 GB hard drive. The Xbox 360 Elite had a 125 GB hard drive prior to 2009.
Accessories
The Xbox 360 Elite comes with two controllers, while the standard Xbox 360 comes with one. The standard Xbox 360 also came with a hybrid video cable that allowed it to connect to high definition TVs. The Xbox 360 Elite comes with a separate HDMI cable that fulfills the same purpose.
Color
The Xbox 360 Elite is a black console with a chrome disc drive. The standard Xbox 360 is a white console with a chrome disc drive. The Xbox 360 Core and Xbox 360 Arcade are also white, but both have white disc drives.
Price
The Xbox 360 Elite was priced at $400 when it was released in 2007 while the standard Xbox 360 was $300 the same year. The price of the Xbox 360 Elite was later cut to $300 and the standard Xbox 360 was discontinued in 2009. Its price was dropped then to $250 to sell off the remaining stock. The Xbox 360 Elite is typically priced $50 to $100 higher than the standard model.
Bundles
Microsoft has released bundles for the Christmas season with both machines. These bundles package one or more games with the console at no additional cost. In 2007, both came with "Forza Motorsport 2" and "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance." In 2008, both were packaged with "Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures" and "Kung Fu Panda." In 2009, the Xbox 360 Elite was packaged with "Gears of War," "Lego Batman," and "Pure." There was no standard Xbox 360 bundle in 2009.
