How to Transfer Data on a 360 With a Local Connection

Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game system allows you to store video, music, pictures, and games. These files are stored on the Xbox 360's detachable hard disk drives (HDD), and range in sizes of 20GB to 250 GB. If your current Xbox 360 HDD is too small to meet your needs, you can transfer the data to a larger HDD using a local transfer kit connecter. The content from the old HDD overrides the content on the new HDD.

Instructions

    • 1

Power down your Xbox 360 with the exisiting "source" drive attached.

    • 2

Remove all accessories from the Xbox 360.

    • 3

Connect a controller and power up your Xbox 360.

    • 4

Plug the transfer cable into your "destination" drive.

    • 5

Insert the opposite end of the transfer cable into a USB port on the Xbox 360. These are located on the back of the console.
