Features of the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

The Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless controller gives you the freedom to move further from your television and not worry about a tangle of cords. Players can even turn their consoles on and off with the press of a button. Four controllers can be used on one console for multiplayer action.
  1. Guide Button

    • The centrally-located button turns the controller and console on and off and accesses the Xbox 360 guide on the console. From this guide you can view and contact friends and access myriad game options. A green light by one of the four quadrants indicates the controller's position from one to four.

    Analog Sticks

    • The controller features two small joysticks on the left and right sides of the controller. Both can also be pushed down to use as a button for some functions in games. Generally, the left analog stick is used to move a character in a game. It is also used to scroll through options on the Xbox 360 Dashboard. The right analog stick is frequently used to look around in games, allowing your character to peer to the left, right, up or down.

    Buttons

    • The right side of the controller features four colorful buttons labeled "A," "B," "X" and "Y" while the top of the controller has a left and right trigger and left and right bumper buttons. These buttons are assigned a variety of functions in games. Usually when accessing game options, the green "A" button selects a choice while the red "B" button cancels it. The guide button is also flanked by the "Back" and "Start" buttons.

    Expansion Port

    • This slot on the bottom of the controller allows players to connect a headset or other accessories such as a keyboard.

    Charge Port

    • Located between the trigger and bumper buttons on the top of the controller, this port works with Microsoft's play and charge kit, which allows players to charge the batteries of the wireless controller by connecting the controller to the Xbox 360 console.
