Turn your Xbox 360 back on and check the light on your power source. If the light is green, turn off the system. unplug the power supply from the Xbox and from the wall socket. Plug all pieces back in correctly and start the system again. If the red ring of death isn't gone, continue to step 2.
Turn your system off and allow it to sit, cooling, for two hours. Sometimes the red ring of death is caused by overheating. Allowing the console to cool can return it to its normal state.
Remove any discs from the device and clean them with a soft, dry cloth. Use the clean disc when you restart the system.
Check all ventilation ports on the machine to be sure they're clear of dust and debris. If they aren't, use compressed air in a can to blow any waste material away from the ports to ensure the best cooling function.
Contact Xbox if these solutions don't work and request that a technician repair your system. Opening your system or attempting more than basic repairs can void your warranty and make obtaining the right help impossible without a hefty fee.
