How to Beat Mission 9 in Ace Combat 6

"Ace Combat 6" is Namco's arcade-style flight-simulation and air-combat game for the Xbox 360. The game places players behind the control of a series of high-powered military aircraft involved in military combat missions across a variety of locales. One of the game's missions, "Mission 9: The Dead Sea," challenges players with an assault on a heavily guarded command cruiser. You'll need fast reflexes to pass this stage, but a battle plan helps too.

Instructions

- 1
  Add the SU-33 to your inventory from the game's shop. This plane, unlocked at the end of Mission 8, is the same used by the enemy on Mission 9, so taking it into battle will remove their edge. Choose the SU-33 and outfit it with XMA4 missiles, then start the mission.

  Fly toward the mission area without deviating from the starting direction. A cut-scene will bring you close to the Aigaion command cruiser, flanked by six tankers; take these out with your XMA4s.

  Lure the Strigon air support away from the aerial battleships to take them down without being distracted by the ships' ESM fire.

  Approach the aerial battleships at speed, calling in allies to draw the crafts' guns and using your superior maneuverability to evade their ESM fire. Take the battleships down by first destroying their ESM and gunnery defenses, then shooting out the engines, before going in for the kill by firing on the cockpits of the craft.

  Attack the Kottos and Gyges, the ships flanking the Aigaion. Wear down their defenses with fast, strong strikes, using the SU-33 to get in and out fast until both ships have been sunk.

  Repeat the quick-strikes approach to neutralize the Aigaion's weapons and engines, calling in your allies to draw the cruiser's fire. Don't fly too low or the cruiser's Nimbus missiles will draw you into their wide explosions.

  Arc around the cruiser so you are approaching from the front. This is the only direction from which you can target the cockpit. Hit your afterburners and fly toward the cockpit fast. As soon as you get a missile lock, launch your missiles and pull out fast. Destroy the cockpit using this method to complete the mission.
