Wired Connection
Turn off the Xbox 360.
Connect one end of an Ethernet cable into the "Ethernet" port on your Xbox and the other end into any available Ethernet port on the back of your router.
Turn the Xbox 360 on. Select the "My Xbox" tab. Choose "System Settings." Click on "Network Settings." Select "Test Xbox Live Connection." The Xbox will verify your Internet connection and will test your connection to the Xbox Live servers.
After the test is complete, return to the "My Xbox" menu. Select the account that you want to connect to Xbox Live with. Choose "Join Xbox Live." Follow the user-specific instructions to complete setting up an Xbox Live account.
Wireless Connection
Turn the Xbox 360 off. Plug the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter into any of the USB ports on the Xbox. Turn the Xbox 360 on.
Select the "My Xbox" tab. Select "System Settings." Choose "Network Settings." Click on "Configure Network." Select the "Basic Settings" tab. Choose "Scan for Networks."
Select the name of the wireless network that you want to connect to. Enter the wireless password (if applicable).
Select "Test Xbox Live Connection." The Xbox will verify your Internet connection and will test your connection to the Xbox Live servers.
After the test is complete, return to the "My Xbox" menu. Select the account that you want to connect to Xbox Live with. Choose "Join Xbox Live." Follow the user-specific instructions to complete setting up an Xbox Live account.
