How to Fix Xbox 360 Error E73

Xbox 360 is a gaming console that allows players to test their skills at single-player games and online multiplayer games. One of the biggest hassles of the Xbox 360 is what people call the "Three Red Lights of Death," also known as error 73--the error code you see on your TV screen when you turn on your Xbox 360. Fixing this problem can seem like a daunting task at first, but there are several methods to try before having to send your Xbox 360 to Microsoft.

Instructions

  1. Check the AV Cable

    • 1

Go to the back of your Xbox 360 console and check the AV cable to make sure it is inserted into the console correctly.

    • 2

Disconnect your AV cable from the back of the console and then put it back in.

    • 3

Unplug the AV cable from the back of the console and wipe the metal pins on the back of the AV plug with a clean rag.

    • 4

Try using a different AV cable to test your system.

    Restart Your Console

    • 5

Press the "Power" button on the front of the Xbox 360 until the unit has powered down.

    • 6

Disconnect the AV cable from the back of the console.

    • 7

Disconnect the power supply from the wall socket.

    • 8

Allow the unit and the power supply to cool for a couple of hours.

    • 9

Reconnect the AV cable and the power supply to the back of the console. Turn your Xbox 360 back on.
