How to Use an Xbox 360 Memory Card

The Xbox 360 game console uses game discs, which require external memory to save files and games either in the form of a hard drive or a memory card. Xbox 360 memory cards (typically called memory units) are usually capable of holding 64 megabytes of memory.

      Insert the memory unit into "Memory Unit Slot A" or "Memory Unit Slot B" on the Xbox 360 console. These slots can be found underneath the disc tray. It does not matter which one you select.

      Turn on your Xbox 360 console with no game in the disc drive.

      Press the center Xbox 360 logo button on the Xbox 360 controller, which should prompt a menu to pop up.

      Scroll to the right using the left joystick until you reach the "Settings" tab. Scroll down and select "System Settings."

      Scroll down and select "Memory." This screen will show you how much space is remaining on your memory unit as well as allow you to delete unwanted files, which will free up space.

      During a game, when asked to save or given the option to save, select your memory unit on the screen that pops up to save your game to the memory unit.
