How to Connect Your Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter to Your Router

There are two basic ways to connect to Xbox LIVE: wired or wirelessly. While a wired connection is always the easiest and most reliable choice, sometimes wireless is the only option if the modem or router is too far away from the Xbox 360. If that is the case, Microsoft also sells wireless adapters for the Xbox 360, which mount and connect to the console, allowing the gaming system to link to wireless networks.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the adapter to the back of the console by sliding its two tabs into the two slots located to the sides of the serial number above the AV ports.

    • 2

Connect its USB power cable into the USB port, located next to the AV ports.

    • 3

Turn the adapter's antennae upward to increase signal range.

    • 4

Turn on the console and access "System Settings" on the dashboard by pressing the "Guide" menu button on your controller, navigating to "Settings," and then selecting "System Settings."

    • 5

Choose "Network Settings" followed by "Configure Network" and "Wireless Mode."

    • 6

Scroll to "Scan for Networks" and press the "A" button on your controller to allow your adapter to search for wireless networks, such as your router's.

    • 7

Choose your router's wireless network from the resulting list and enter its password when prompted.
