How to Create an XBox Back Up

Xbox video games are stored on DVDs just as PC games are. A backup of a Xbox video game disk can be created using a PC-based disk-copying program. There are a number of disk-copying programs that can be used on PCs, all of which operate in a similar manner to create a backup of the DVD and which are available as freeware products along with trial versions of commercial software. You do not need a special version of the Windows operating system to create a backup of an Xbox video game disk, although it will not play on the video game console unless it has been modified first.

Eject the DVD drive's disk tray. Put the video game disk onto the disk tray. Close the disk tray.

    • 4

Double-click the icon of the disk-copying program that is on the desktop to launch it.

    • 5

Wait for the name of the Xbox video game disk to appear in the "Name" column of the disk-copying program's main screen.

    • 6

Click on the "Save To" column to bring up a window. Navigate in the window to the desktop of the PC. Close the window by clicking the "OK" button.

Click on "Data" from the list of choices presented in the "Type" drop down menu on the disk-copying program's main screen.

    • 8

Select "ISO" from the "Format" drop down menu on the disk-copying program's main screen or click on the "Use Copy presets" button.

    • 9

Click on the "Copy" or "Start" button at the bottom of the disk-copying program's main screen.

    • 10

Wait as a progress bar fills from left to right. Quit the disk-copying program when the progress bar is fully filled. The backup created from the Xbox video game disk is now on the desktop of the PC.
