How to Flash an Xbox 360 BenQ Drive Without a Mod Chip

Xbox 360 consoles are made by Microsoft Corp. and are manufactured with different brands of DVD drives inside. These brands are Samsung, Hitachi and BenQ. BenQ DVD drives can be edited by moving BIN files via an SATA cable between your computer and the Xbox 360. You will need a SATA cable, a BIN flashing program (see References) and a Torx size 7 screwdriver to open the Xbox 360 console.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Xbox 360 (see the guide provided in the References section). Separate the external plastic casing from the interior metal casing and remove the Torx size 7 screws with your Torx screwdriver. Remove your BenQ DVD drive from the Xbox 360 case and insert your SATA cable from your computer to the 360. You will then be able to transfer data across the SATA cable from your computer to the Xbox 360 BenQ DVD drive.

Turn on your computer, log in to your user account and open your web browser of choice. Download a .BIN edit/write program (free online from the link in the References section) and install the program. JungleFlasher edits and moves BIN files from your computer to your BenQ Xbox 360 DVD drive. Open the BIN program and choose your BenQ 360 DVD drive. Click "Edit .BIN" and then click "OK." The BIN application will begin reading your BenQ 360 DVD drive's original BIN file for editing on your PC.

JungleFlasher will customize and produce a new BIN file for flashing from your PC to the Xbox 360 BenQ drive. Select the BIN file you wish to copy to the Xbox 360 BenQ DVD drive within the JungleFlasher application and click "OK." JungleFlasher will flash the BIN file to your BenQ Xbox 360 DVD drive. Wait for the flashing process to complete, then shut down your computer. Reassemble your Xbox 360 console before turning the machine back on.
