How to Connect an Xbox 360 to a Netgear Wireless-N Router

Connecting your Xbox 360 to your Wireless N-Router requires a broadband Internet connection and a wireless Internet adapter for your Xbox. Set up your wireless network before attempting to connect to Xbox Live.

Instructions

      Connect your Netgear N-router to the Internet with an Ethernet cable and set the transmission speed on the back of the router to Auto. Place the wireless router near your Xbox 360. Insert the setup wizard disk included with your router into your home computer and follow the instructions to set up the Netgear wireless network.

      Insert the wireless adapter into the I/O port on the back of the Xbox console and flip the antenna up. Turn on your Xbox.

      Go to "System Settings" under "My Xbox" on the Xbox dashboard, then go to "Network Settings." Select "Edit Settings."

      Choose "Wireless Settings," and then select your wireless network. Enter the password to the network and choose "Done."

      Click "Test Connection" on the "Apply Settings" page. Set up you Xbox Live account if you have never signed onto Xbox Live by following the instructions that appear on the screen.
