How to Install Windows Media Center for XBox 360

Not only is the Xbox 360 a high-def video game console, but it is also a capable media playback device. Microsoft, the Xbox 360's developer, ensured that the console would have ample compatibility with Windows PCs when they designed it. As such, the Xbox 360 can stream all types of media, such as music, videos and photos, through Windows Media Center.

Instructions

      Connect your Xbox 360 to the computer running Windows Media Center via Ethernet cable. You can also connect the two devices to the same network, such as a home network on a router.

      Turn on both devices.

      Run Windows Media Center on your computer.

      Scroll to "Tasks," then choose "Extender" in Windows Media Center.

      Click "Next" on the resulting prompt after reading the introduction to the extender setup. You will then be asked to enter an eight-digit code, which you do not yet have.

      Open Windows Media Center setup on your Xbox 360 by going to "My Xbox" in the dashboard and selecting "Windows Media Center."

      Choose "Continue" after reading the introduction on the Xbox 360 Windows Media Center setup. Your console will check the network then give you an eight-digit code.

      Write down the eight-digit code displayed on your Xbox 360, then enter that code into the extender setup prompt on your computer.

      Follow the rest of the prompts on your computer to finish setting up Windows Media Center to run on your Xbox 360.
