How to Upgrade a 20Gb to a 60Gb Driver Hard Drive on XBox 360 Pro

The Xbox 360 Pro originally was manufactured with a 20GB hard drive. The Xbox 360 hard drive can easily be removed and inserted into the console, making upgrading to a larger 60GB hard drive a practical option. The contents of the original 20GB hard drive need to be transferred to the 60GB hard drive using an Xbox 360 hard drive transfer kit before the upgrade is made. This allows the user to move to the new hard drive while keeping all of his settings, media files, saved games and downloadable content.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Xbox 360 Pro console. Remove any accessories that are attached to the console. The original 20GB hard drive should still be installed.

    • 2

      Turn the console on.

    • 3

Plug the large connector on the transfer cable that came with the Xbox 360 hard drive transfer kit to the port on the 60GB hard drive.

    • 4

Plug the other end of the cable into the port on the Xbox 360 Pro console. It is located directly above the network cable port.

    • 5

Insert the disc that came with the transfer kit into the console.

    • 6

Confirm the prompts asking if you want to transfer the data from the 20GB hard drive to the 60GB hard drive.

    • 7

Wait for the transfer to complete. This can potentially take a few hours to complete depending on how full the original hard drive is.

    • 8

Turn off the console when the transfer is complete. Disconnect the console and 60GB hard drive from the transfer cable.

    • 9

Press in the tab on the 20GB hard drive. The hard drive can now be lifted out of the Xbox 360 Pro console.

    • 10

Insert the 60GB into the vacant hard drive slot. The tab will click when it is secured in place.
