How to Connect an Xbox 360 to a PC Monitor

Owners of the Xbox 360 have the option of connecting their game system to a computer monitor rather than a TV. The picture quality can actually be better on the computer monitor, depending on the monitor's specifications. The Xbox 360 cannot connect to a computer monitor natively, however, as it requires a separately bought VGA cable. Once you have the cable, connecting the game system to a PC monitor requires very little effort and time.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off and disconnect the power source of your Xbox 360. Be sure that no other accessories are plugged in.

    • 2

Disconnect the video cable from both your Xbox 360 and TV. Ensure that your TV is off beforehand.

    • 3

Attach the VGA cable. One side of the cable (AV connector) is designed only for your Xbox 360, while the other side (VGA connector) is strictly for your PC monitor. These are easily distinguishable as the AV cable is larger and fits snug into your Xbox 360, while the opposite is true for the VGA cable.

    • 4

Connect the red and white audio wires to the audio input on your monitor.

    • 5

Connect the power supply to your Xbox 360. Turn on both the game system and TV.

    • 6

Select your resolution. Go into the console settings from the main menu of your Xbox 360, and select "Display." Choose the resolution that best fits your monitor.
