How to Remove Scratches From an Xbox CD

Xbox discs are prone to getting scratches, especially if you have small children who like to play with them. Although small scratches don't effect how well the game plays when you place it in the Xbox,a CD with lots of scratches (or a few very deep scratches) won't play at all. Before you spend lots of money to replace your Xbox games, however, try removing the scratches yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • Regular toothpaste
  • Car wax
  • Soft cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the CD under a running faucet to remove any dust or dirt.

    • 2

Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a cloth and rub it gently on your CD in a circular motion. Do this until you can see the scratches starting to disappear. Do not rinse the CD.

    • 3

Put car wax onto a clean cloth and spread over the entire CD. Allow it to dry thoroughly, and wipe with another clean cloth. If there are still visible scratches (or the game still won't play), repeat Steps 2 and 3.
