How to Connect to Xbox Live With Wireless Internet

A wireless Internet connection may be the only option for Xbox Live gamers whose console sits far from a router or modem. Microsoft sells a wireless networking adapter for those who must connect wirelessly. The adapter connects to one of the console's USB ports and allow the user to connect to her preferred network using the Xbox 360's Network Settings menu.

Instructions

      Plug your wireless adapter into the console's rear USB port. Note that a light appears on the adapter. The black adapter will have a flashing green light, and the white adapter will have a solid red light. Both mean they are not connected to a network.

      Fit the adapter into the adapter mount on the back of the console. The adapter's two jutting pins lock into the two holes located to the left and right of the serial number above the A/V ports.

      Turn the antennae upward.

      Power on the Xbox 360 and go to the dashboard.

      Open the console's System Settings menu, then select "Network Settings."

      Choose the top option, "Configure Network," then "Wireless Mode" from the resulting list.

      Scan for networks then choose your desired wireless network from the resulting list when the scan finishes.

      Enter a password if necessary.
