How to Download Emulators on the Xbox

Putting emulators on your Xbox is a great way to get thousands of free games on your console. If you're itching for a chance to beat a game that made a mockery of you when you were a kid, this is your chance. Putting the emulators on your Xbox can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be with the proper tools. Here is a step-by-step process on how to get an emulator on your Xbox with little effort and hassle.

  1. How To Download Emulators On The Xbox

      Turn on your softmodded Xbox and let it boot up. Go to your favorite emulator site to find the emulators of your choice. Choose the console that you would like to have on your Xbox and download it to your computer. Find a couple of Rom files from the same site and download them to the same file folder. Don't run the software on your computer. Drag the emulator from your download folder to your desktop so you have easy access to it.

      Connect your Xbox to your wireless router and make sure that the light is on in the back where the ethernet cable is attached to the Xbox. If you can't attach the Xbox to your wireless router, you will need a crossover cable. These cables can be found at local computer retailers.

      Open your FTP software and enter the 192.168.0.3 as the target IP address. Enter the username of "xbox" and a password as "xbox" into the field below. Change the port to 21 and click " Connect" on your FTP software. You should see drives C, D, E, F, G and you might see drives X and Y in the FTP window.

      Go back to your desktop and drag the emulator file to your FTP window. Enter the emulator into drive E for access to it. Go to your Xbox and scroll through your dashboard to the file manager. Look to make sure that the emulator file in the E drive. When you find it, go back to your dashboard and click on the "Emulator" section. Your emulator should be ready to install.

      Click on the emulator software and let it run. It will take a couple of minutes. When it is done, go back to your FTP software and reconnect to the Xbox if needed. Go back to the E drive in your software and there will be a file that says "Roms." Click on it and you will see a couple of files. Click on the INI file and a bunch of code will pop up. Do a search for "Roms" and you will need to change the path to "E:/emulators/Roms" instead of what is in place. This will allow your emulator to load the Rom files.

      Disconnect your FTP software from your Xbox and restart the console. When it boots back up, you will be all set.
