How to Get an Xbox LIVE Camera to Work for a Computer

The Xbox 360 has numerous accessories to enhance gameplay, such as wireless controllers, headsets and even cameras. The Xbox LIVE Vision Camera provides a whole new variety of features to Xbox Live users, allowing them to video chat, send photos and more. Like many other Xbox 360 accessories, the Vision camera also is backwards compatible with Windows-based PCs, specifically Windows XP.

      Plug your Xbox LIVE Vision Camera to your PC's powered USB 2.0 port. After a few moments, Windows will notify you that it detects new hardware and ask permission to open the hardware installation wizard.

      Start the "Found new Hardware" setup wizard. This program will guide you through prompts to download the proper drivers needed to run the camera.

      Follow the prompts until you are asked to manually or automatically find and download the drivers for the Xbox LIVE Vision Camera. Choose "Automatic." Your computer will begin the download process, which takes a few moments. Once the Wizard completes, you can use the Xbox LIVE Vision Camera like any other computer webcam.
