Roman Numerals
Many people use numbers in their gamer tag. They are often inappropriate pubescent references, or sometimes it's simply their birthday. These tags are common and therefore don't give your game name any distinction. If you want to use numbers in your tag, try Roman numerals. Roman numerals have a distinct and intriguing look, and they can add a little bit of class to your tag. Roman numerals are simple to use. An I is a one, while a V is a five, and an X is a ten. Combining these can create any number. For example, XXXVI is 36. For higher numbers, L is 50, C is 100, D is 500, and M is 1,000. So 2010 would be MMX. Placing a lower number before a higher number subtracts the lower number. For example, CD would be 400, as you are subtracting 100 from 500. If you were born in 1996, your Roman numeral would be MCMXCVI.
Modified Nickname
Many people have nicknames in real life. These people will often use their nicknames as their gaming tags in order to identify themselves to their friends more quickly. This is an effective method for getting gamer tags, but if you have a common nickname, you may have trouble securing it as a gamer tag. Instead of using your nickname, modify it a little. For example, if your name is Charles, people may call you Charlie or Chuck. If your middle name is John, they may even call you C.J., so you think up the game tage of C.J.1987. But this seems a bit too blasé. Try "Cee Jay," or if you are called Charlie, try "Char Lee" instead. Or if you're Chuck, try "Chuck the Duck" or something similar. Slightly modifying your nickname can add a lot of variety and interest to a stale nickname and gamer tag.
Personal Hero
Most people have a person in their life who has inspired them. This person can be a sport hero, a musical hero, a president, a general or even a parent. Honor your hero by using his name as a gamer tag. This is done by many people, so try modifying it a little. For example, if Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency inspired you, you could try a gamer tag like "Mr. Roosevelt." Another variation could be "F.D.R. 33-45," as those were the years he served as president. Or if you are a huge fan of Paul McCartney, you could honor him in a similar way. "McCBassman" could make an appropriate tag, as he is primarily a bass player. There are many variations you can use to try to set your name apart. You can check if your name has been taken by going to Gamer Tag Creator. It will run a check of all gamer tags on Xbox to see if yours is taken. Only one person can have a particular tag, so if "Caesar XXVI" is already taken, you can add more numbers, such as "Caesar XXVII" to make it your own.
