How to Cancel an Xbox Live Membership

Xbox Live Gold memberships require players to pay each month to use it. This service primarily is used to play Xbox 360 video games with friends online. The method to cancel the pay service requires downgrading to the free Xbox Live Silver membership. This will stop Microsoft from rebilling your credit card during the next billing cycle. This can be done quickly and easily through the Xbox Dashboard.

  Go to the Dashboard menu of the Xbox 360. This comes up automatically when the console is turned on. You can reach the Dashboard anytime by pressing the ̶0;Xbox̶1; button on the controller to open the Xbox Guide menu. You can return to the dashboard by selecting "Xbox Dashboard" from the menu or by pressing "Y."

  Go to ̶0;My Xbox̶1; in the Dashboard menu.

  Select the player profile with the Xbox Live Gold membership you want to cancel.

  Select ̶0;Manage Account̶1; from the player profile menu.

  Select ̶0;Memberships̶1; from the account management menu.

  Select ̶0;Modify Membership̶1; from the membership menu.

  Choose ̶0;Unsubscribe̶1; from the membership options. This will cancel your Xbox Live Gold membership and stop rebilling. Your now will have an Xbox Live Silver membership.
