How to Put Music on an Xbox 360 Without a CD

You may now transfer existing music between Xbox 360 hard drives.

Things You'll Need

  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox 360 120-GB hard drive
  • Xbox 360 hard drive transfer cable
  • Xbox 360 20-GB hard drive containing music files

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the Xbox 360 with the original 20-GB hard drive containing music files still connected. Be sure to disconnect all controllers and accessories from the controller port.

      Turn on the Xbox 360 and connect one controller to a controller port. Turn on the controller to prepare to navigate the transfer wizard.

      Insert one end of the hard drive transfer cable into the 120-GB hard drive̵7;s input port. The transfer cable is included in your 120-GB hard drive hardware package.

      Insert the other end of transfer cable to the Xbox 360̵7;s connected original 20-GB hard drive.

      Insert the hard drive transfer disc included in the 120-GB hard drive hardware package into the Xbox 360̵7;s game drive. Follow the transfer wizard software̵7;s on-screen instructions to put your music and other contents onto the new hard drive.

      Turn off the Xbox 360 console.

      Remove the hard drive bay cover from the side of your Xbox 360 console by pushing down the cover̵7;s release latch and lifting it off.

      Push down the release tab on the front of the connected 20-GB hard drive and carefully remove it.

      Insert the 120-GB hard drive carefully into the hard drive port. Slide the ridged end of the hard drive under the lip of the port. Push the other end down until it clicks into place.

      Replace the hard drive bay cover.
