How to Get Your Xbox to Read Your iPod for Music

The Xbox 360 features two USB ports on its front panel for connecting media devices. The gaming console automatically detects and plays MP3s stored on an iPod, but it won't recognize songs purchased from the iTunes Store without additional software. To enable the Xbox 360 to read Advanced Audio Coding, or AAC, files, download and install the Optional Media Update to the console. Even with the add-on, however, the Xbox won't recognize AAC files protected with digital rights management, or DRM.
