How to Find the Key in the Black Throne on Darksiders

The Beholder's Key is a required item needed to challenge the third black throne guardian on your quest to complete the game. Locating the key involves navigating a series of portal-based puzzles within the black throne area in the fifth chapter of "Darksiders" after defeating the second guardian in the black throne area.

Instructions

  Climb the winding staircase in the main hall and locate the portal positioned along the south wall.

  Use the portals to climb up through the chamber. Charge the portals on the floor to gain more altitude through your ascent. After proceeding through two portals you will come to a hallway with a large door at the end.

  Open the door and collect a key from the treasure chest at the left of this room. Open a charged portal on the wall; then turn around and approach the side of the room with the moving pillars. Wait until you see a portal surface on one of the pillars and open a portal on it. Return to the first portal that you opened in this room and wait until you see a pillar with another portal wall on it. Open that portal, which will close the portal you are looking through, and then open a charged portal on this wall again. Wait until the path clears and then jump through this portal.

  Head down through the chamber with the red, glowing crystal emerging from the floor. Ignore the portal wall near the crystal for now and head down the hall. Open the portal on the wall and another on the rotating platform ahead of you. Return to the wall and look through the portal until you see another red crystal. Jump through the portal immediately after the column passes the red crystals.

  Navigate down the hall and turn to the right. Open a portal on the wall to your right and then head down the hall and open the door ahead of you. This will place you next to the first red crystal. Place a portal on the portal wall next to the crystal and return to the previous room.

  Grab the bomb from the pillar ahead of you and quickly toss it into the portal to destroy the red crystal. This action will cause a pillar in the main chamber to rise from the ground.

  Return to the main chamber and climb up the spiral staircase. Charge the portal on the raised pillar and then activate the portal on the nearby wall and jump through it to ascend high above the main chamber and reach the chest containing the Beholder Key.
