How to Use Your Ally as a Tether for the Xbox

As long as your Xbox 360 can use Wi-Fi via the built-in card or an adapter, you can use the hotspot feature of LG's Ally to connect the console to the Internet. The mobile data connection you get through your cellular carrier will be used to connect your console to the Xbox Live service. Because most mobile data networks are somewhat slower than traditional wired Internet and Wi-Fi connections, fast-paced games that require a quick connection may not work as well.

Instructions

  1. Set Up Hotspot

    • 1

Touch "Applications" on your Ally and then press "3G Mobile Hotspot."

    • 2

Tap the box next to "3G Mobile Hotspot" so a check mark appears. Touch "Continue."

    • 3

Touch "Turn on Mobile Hotspot" and then touch "Configure."

    • 4

Type in an SSID to identify your network and then choose "WPA2-PSK" from the drop-down menu. Type in a password for your network. Tap "Save."

    Connect the Xbox

    • 5

Click "Settings" and then "System" on your console menu.

    • 6

Click "Network Settings." Scroll to the network name you created with your Ally and then press "A."

    • 7

Type in your password with the on-screen keyboard. Click "Done" when you're finished. If you're prompted to update that Xbox software, click "Yes" to update. If the update is large, you may have to wait awhile for it to finish.
