How to Make a Hard Drive the Primary Save Device on an Xbox 360

Microsoft's Xbox 360 gives players the option to store game data on the system's hard drive or to the Xbox Cloud. You can make the Xbox 360's hard drive the primary storage device by disabling the Xbox Cloud and removing the system items associated with the Cloud storage service from your hard drive. After selecting the hard drive as your main storage device, you must enable Cloud storage manually to save game files to the Xbox Cloud for use on other consoles registered with your gamertag.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Xbox 360 and log in with your gamertag.

    • 2

Press the guide button, located in the middle of your Xbox 360 controller, and navigate to the "Settings" tab. Select "System Settings" and press the "A" button on the controller to open the system settings menu.

    • 3

Navigate to the "Storage" menu option and press "A" on the controller.

    • 4

Navigate to the option labeled "Cloud Saved Games" and press the "Y" button on the remote. Select "Disable" to turn off cloud storage.

    • 5

Press the "B" button to return to the "Storage Devices" menu. Highlight the hard drive and press the "A" button on your remote.

    • 6

Select "System Items" and press the "A" button on the remote; then select "Cloud Storage Console Copy." Select the "Delete" option and then return to the Xbox 360 dashboard by pressing the guide button.
