How to Change the Xbox Memory Unit

The Xbox Memory Unit, compatible only with the original Xbox 360, features 512MB of space for games and other content. The device stores saved game data, arcade titles, themes, demos and avatar items. If you've run out of room on your Xbox Memory Unit, you might want to swap the device out for one that has space remaining. You can also remove or replace the Xbox 360's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the Xbox 360 console.

    • 2

Grasp the Xbox Memory Unit and pull it toward you to remove it from the console. The Memory Unit is connected to the front of the console via one of the USB ports. It looks like a small white square with "Xbox 360" printed on the top. Do not remove the device when the Xbox is saving or reading data. Doing so may cause data corruption.
