Xbox 360 Hard Drive
The Xbox 360 hard drive is the standard storage device used by the Xbox 360 to save data. Game data, downloadable content and any other saved data are usually stored on the hard drive.
Precautions
Before formatting your Xbox 360 hard drive, make sure it does not contain important data that you do not want to lose. Formatting an Xbox 360 drive is the process of erasing all of its contained data and returning it to its factory default state. After formatting the drive, all data contained within it will be lost.

To format your Xbox 360 hard drive, you will need the serial number of your Xbox 360. The formatting process requires you to enter this serial number to help prevent accidental formatting. The Xbox 360 serial number can be found on the back of the console next to the A/V port or on the front of the console behind the door covering the console's USB ports.
