One Blinking Light
If your console displays one blinking light and no picture appears on your television screen, check the Xbox 360 power cables. A light flashes if the cables are not properly connected. If adjusting the cables does not work, remove and reattach the hard drive, accessories and any memory units. Faulty accessories will cause one blinking light to display. If "System Error" appears on the screen along with the error code "E 74," your Xbox 360 needs professional repair.
Two Blinking Lights
Two blinking lights indicate your Xbox 360 console is overheating. Put the console in a well-ventilated area. Do not put anything directly behind or blocking the sides of the console. Blocking the ventilation openings causes overheating and system failure. If the Xbox 360 feels hot and still displays two blinking red lights after you have improved ventilation, allow the console to cool for an hour. Try to play a game. If the console continues to overheat, it may need repair.
Three Blinking Lights
Three blinking lights indicate an Xbox 360 hardware failure. Turn the console on and check the light on the power supply. If the power supply light is red, orange or not lit, disconnect and reattach the power supply. If this does not fix the problem, try to connect the power supply to a different electrical outlet. If problems continue, you may have a faulty power supply.
If the power supply light is green, it is working properly. Your Xbox 360 console has an internal hardware failure. Contact Microsoft for repair.
Four Blinking Lights
Four blinking lights indicate a problem with the Xbox 360 audio/video cable. Turn off the console and television, then disconnect the A/V cable from the Xbox 360. Unplug the connectors from the television. Reattach the cable and its connectors. If the problem continues, use a different A/V cable. If a second A/V cable does not work, the Xbox 360 needs repair.
