Knee Position
Slow running in place often doesn't give your javelin-throwing character enough power to send the javelin far. Instead, run in place with your knees high; Kinect registers this movement and interprets it as fast running, helping your overall momentum. Keep running with your knees high until you release the javelin.
Javelin Position
Getting an impressive distance on your javelin throw begins with the correct form. For the javelin to travel far, it must be at an appropriate height. Hold the javelin with your throwing hand next to your ear as you run. Holding the javelin in this position may seem unnatural, it will yield better results than holding it at shoulder height.
Javelin Angle
In javelin, the release angle is the most important factor. If you release the javelin too low, it won't get the height it needs to fly far. If you release it too high, it arcs back to the ground quickly. When releasing the javelin in "Kinect Sports," extend your arm to a 45-degree angle. If playing with friends, have a friend stand beside you and tell you if your arm angle is too low or too high.
Follow-Through
The follow-through in throwing events in "Kinect Sports" increases the velocity and distance of throws. After you release the javelin at as close to a 45-degree angle as possible, swing your arm so that it moves across your body as though you are throwing a baseball. This movement adds some extra to your throw the same way it would in real life.
