How to Do Protego on Kinect

The "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows" video game for the Xbox 360 features a game mode that uses the Kinect sensor. In the game mode, your character travels along a predetermined path while you are tasked with casting various spells to ward off enemies. One of the spells in your arsenal is the Protego spell, which is used to deflect spells thrown at you and can be activated using a very specific gesture.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand at least six feet away from the Kinect sensor. Microsoft recommends that you allow this much space so the sensor can accurately track your movements.

    • 2

Center yourself so that you are standing directly in front of the Kinect sensor to allow the sensor to accurately read the gesture you are using to cast the spell.

    • 3

Hold both hands up to the screen with your palms facing toward the Kinect sensor. Do not lift your hands above your head; instead, position them so they are roughly shoulder level. If it helps, pretend there is a glass wall directly in front of you and you are pressing the palms of your hands against it. With your hands in the correct position, you will cast the Protego spell.
