Grown Up Games for Kinect

The Kinect isn't just for kids. Released in 2010 for the Xbox 360, the add-on allows you to play games using your entire body as a controller. Many games released specifically for the Kinect are rated "E" for everyone. These games contain child-friendly, inoffensive content. If you're over the age of 18, though, you probably want a mature, adult experience with the Kinect. Several games, rated "Teen" and "Mature," satisfy this need with dark stories, intricate controls and plenty of shooting and fighting.
  1. "Rise of Nightmares"

    • "Rise of Nightmares," a survival-horror game released in 2011, pits you against robotic zombies and a mad scientist who has captured your character's wife. Upon release, "Rise of Nightmares" was the only horror game for the Kinect, and one of the very few "M" rated games. Using your body as the controller, you run away from zombies, jump onto moving trains and kick down doors. Once your character, Josh, rescues his wife, Kate, it's up to you to keep her safe while you try to escape a monster-filled castle.

    "Mass Effect 3"

    • "Mass Effect 3," slated for release in March 2012, continues the story of Commander Shepherd and his intergalactic battle against bloodthirsty alien races. This is the first entry in the "Mass Effect" series to make use of the Kinect. As with other games in the series, this one puts you in control of your own team, and you upgrade Shepherd and the team with new weapons and abilities as you progress. You control the team with voice commands, making for engaging gunfights and interaction.

    Forza Motorsport 4

    • "Forza Motorsport 4," released in October 2011, goes beyond most racing games with hyper-realistic cars and environments. The game contains over 500 of the world's most desirable cars, including offerings from Bugatti, Aston Martin and McLaren. When driving in cockpit view, you see the car's interior and look through the front window as if you were actually driving. The game uses Kinect Head Tracking to determine which way you want to look out the window, allowing you to take in the highly detailed world around you.

    The Gunstringer

    • Released in September 2011, "The Gunstringer" is rated "T" for Teen. You play as a marionette cowboy on a quest to take down Wild West outlaws with your trusty pistols. The game offers plenty of humor, as well as violence, as you use your body to dodge bullets or jump across rivers. An off-screen audience demands a good show, and they cheer and boo in response to your antics.
