Insert the USB plug on the Xbox 360 transfer kit into a free USB port on your computer. Next, plug the Xbox 360 memory card into the slot on the transfer kit cable.
Double click the "Xport 360" icon on the desktop to launch the application, then click "OK" to access the Xbox 360 memory card. The application window loads displaying your Xbox 360 memory card with two partitions.
Click the "+" sign next to the folders to navigate to the maps loaded on the memory card. Click on the "Partition 2" folder, then "Content (User Profiles, Saves, etc.)."
Click on the second folder listed in "Content (User Profiles, Saves, etc.)" as this represents your user profile. Next, click the enclosed folder "4D5307E6 (Halo 3)," then click "00000001" where saved maps are located.
Right click on the "Halo 3" map and then click "Copy." Click on "Computer" and then navigate to a folder on your computer such as "Documents." Right click on the folder and then click "Paste."
Launch the "Forge" application and click "File," then "Open." Navigate to the location of the "Halo 3" map. Click the map file and a list of map elements, such as weapons and structures appear in the left column of the Forge application window. Click on an item to display its properties in the right column.
Swap any item details or location with another item by clicking on the drop-down menu in "Item Properties" section. Click the "Save" button to apply any changes you make.
Double click on the "Halo 3 Rehasher/Resigner" icon to launch the program. Click "Open," and then navigate to the location of your modified "Halo 3" map. Double click the map file and then click "Rehash/Resign" and the "Status" bar shows the progress of the process.
Click on "Computer" to navigate to the location of the modified map. Right click the map file and then click "Copy." Repeat Steps 3 to Step 5 to access the "00000001" file on your memory card. Right click in the file window and then click "Paste." The new "Halo 3" map is ready for use with your game.
