How to Add a Caption to an Xbox Avatar

When you turn your Xbox on, your avatar always greets you on the main screen. This is the same avatar your friends see when they log into Xbox Live. A chat bubble above your avatar gives you the option to share a message with your friends, such as an inside joke or an inspiring quote. At any time you can change your motto, as long as you go in, add a message and save it. Everyone on your friends list will see this message.

     Power on your Xbox. Choose the "My XBox" menu from the main dashboard.

     Select "Avatar" from the list of options.

     Scroll down to the box reading "Motto."

     Type your message and save when completed. This will now appear as a chat bubble above your avatar.
