How to Calibrate Xbox Kinect

In late 2010, Microsoft released the Kinect device in an effort to compete in the motion controllers market. Unlike other controllers, the Kinect tracks your entire body and uses your movements to control the actions in supported games. Before you can use the Kinect controller properly, however, you must calibrate it so it recognizes you when you step in front of the camera. You can access the Kinect Tuner at any time.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the silver "Guide" button in the center of your Xbox 360 controller, causing a pop-up menu to appear.

    • 2

Select "Kinect Tuner," the final option in the pop-up menu, followed by "Calibration."

    • 3

Hold your calibration card in front of the Kinect controller. This is the card that came with your device.

    • 4

Adjust the card until it is uniform with the image that appears on your screen. Wait until the screen changes to another image.

    • 5

Continue adjusting the card to match the on-screen image until the calibration is complete.
