How to Cancel a Month-to-Month on Xbox Live

The Microsoft Xbox 360 is Microsoft's second home gaming console. The most notable innovation for this home console is Xbox Live, an omnibus online service that provides everything from DVD rental access to party chat, to online multiplayer options. Any user that purchases an Xbox 360 sets up an Xbox Live Silver account to access the basic functions of Internet connectivity, but the Gold members have access to extra features, such as the aforementioned online multiplayer. For security purposes, players may need to contact Microsoft to cancel their Gold subscription.

  Go to Xbox.com and log in to your Xbox Live account. Click "My Account," then "Membership Level."

  Click the link that says "Automatic Renewal: ON." The next screen should ask you to confirm before switching off the automatic renewal function, placing your Xbox Live subscription on hold temporarily.

  Call 1-800-4MYXBOX and select the "Customer Support" option. The customer service rep will ask you for account information, including the answer to the security question you created when you set up the account. Confirm that you want to remove your credit card from the account as well, to cancel the Live subscription completely.
