How to Get a VGA Cable to Hook Up On a Laptop to an Xbox

You can transmit Xbox 360 video and audio content to your laptop, but only if it has a VGA input port and a microphone port. Note that laptops do not come with a VGA input port, and that the only way to obtain one is in fact by purchasing a TV tuner for your laptop. The next item you need is an Xbox 360 HD VGA A/V cable. It includes a VGA plug for your laptop, an HDMI plug for the Xbox, two RCA plugs and an included RCA-to-3.5 millimeter adapter.

Things You'll Need

• Laptop with TV tuner
• Xbox 360 HD VGA A/V cable
• RCA-to-3.5mm adapter (included with cable)

     Plug the end of the Xbox 360 HD VGA A/V cable with the HDMI plug into the HDMI port on the back of your Xbox 360 console.

     Insert the end of the cable with the VGA plug into the VGA port on your laptop's TV tuner.

     Plug the remaining two white and red RCA connections into the RCA-to-3.5 millimeter adapter, and then plug the other end of the adapter into your laptop's microphone port.
