How to Make Kinect Work in a Small Room

The Kinect on the Xbox 360 allows users to play a variety of games using only their body movements. This works by using a sensor to pick up any movement from the player. However, for Kinect to work correctly, you will need enough space in your playing area for you to be able to move around comfortably. Although it is much more difficult to play in a small living room, is it still possible but may require you to rearrange your furniture.

  Move your TV as far back against the rear wall of your room as possible. Place the Kinect sensor on the top of your TV. If you have a flat-screen TV, mount it on the wall, if possible. This will maximize the space in front of you and create a wider area for the Kinect sensor.

  Move your coffee table from the middle of the room, if you have one. Move any piece of small furniture that normally sits directly in front of the sensor.

  Place rugs and movable mats underneath your larger items of furniture.

  Attach a Kinect zoom component to the front of your Kinect sensor. This reduces the amount of space you need to play Kinect by about 40 percent, allowing you to play Kinect in a smaller room than what is recommended.
