How to Hook Up an iPod to an XBox 360 to Watch a Movie

The Xbox 360 game console includes USB ports that allow connections for external devices and storage drives, and reads media stored on the device for audio or video playback. An iPod connected to the Xbox 360 streams the movie from the iPod's hard disk through the USB connection, and plays movies through the Xbox 360 for large-screen viewing. The USB connector cable included with the iPod is compatible with the Xbox 360, and does not require additional software or hardware to enable support.

     Insert the iPod USB connector cable into the bottom of the iPod and into the USB port on the back of the Xbox 360.

     Press "Power" on the front of the Xbox 360 console to boot up the machine.

     Press the directional pad on the Xbox controller to scroll to "My Xbox" and select "Video Library."

     Scroll to "Portable Device" and press "X."

     Select the video you want to play, and press "X" to begin video playback.
