How to Install Eternity Mod Lights on Your Controller

The XBox 360 controller comes with lights set within the controller to light up the buttons. If you want to change the default XBox lights to a set of more powerful LED Eternity lights, you can modify the hardware of your controllers to change the internal lights. Any XBox 360 gamer can disassemble his XBox controller with a few tools.

Things You'll Need

Phillips #1 screwdriver
Xacto knife
Eternity lights
Soldering iron
Solder

Instructions

  Unscrew all seven screws on the back of the controller. Cut through the serial number to access the seventh screw.

  Separate the back plastic case of the controller by lifting it away from the front.

  Pull the hardware gently away from the front case of the controller to access the lights that are connected to the XBox buttons.

  Remove the LED lights with the solder by gently tapping the ends of the LEDs.

  Note the polarity indication on the back of the LED lights so that you can install the Eternity lights with the same orientation.

  Solder the Eternity LED lights into the same positions as the original LEDs. It is not necessary to follow the same color combination, but it is necessary to maintain the same orientation.

  Reattach the hardware to the plastic cases, and screw the cases back together.
