How to Make a Sleeper Mod for 360

Sleeper mods are modifications to your existing Xbox 360 controllers that allow for advanced modes of control in your game play. You can purchase pre-modded controllers on the Internet or you can modify yours with a few basic parts and supplies. This method is somewhat complicated and could cause your controller to malfunction or stop working altogether, so be cautious during the installation process. Also, some people have said that using a modded Xbox controller could result in being banned from online gaming, so be aware of that as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Take apart the controller to expose the motherboard.

    • 2

Separate the rainbow wire into two pieces of wire and strip the ends of each piece with a pair of scissors. You can also use wire strippers.

    • 3

Thread one piece of wire through the bottom of the momentary switch and solder in place using the soldering wire. Repeat with the other piece of wire.

    • 4

Solder the free end of one piece of wire to the pin on the motherboard. This will be to the right of the center joystick. There will be three pins available to choose from.

    • 5

Solder the end of the other piece of wire to a grounding point. There is a grounding pin about an inch or so below the pin you completed in the previous step.

    • 6

Determine where you want the push button to be on your controller and use the soldering iron to slowly burn a hole in the controller case at that point.

    • 7

Secure the button with the nut it came with and reassemble your controller case.
