How to Get More Species on Viva Pinata

"Viva Pinata" has more than 60 types of pinata, ranging from a tiny Whirlm to a massive Dragonache. You have to meet each pinata's requirements before it appears, visits and becomes resident in your garden. Once a pinata appears, you can highlight it and press the "Y" button to find out exactly what you need to do to get it into the garden. Once it visits, the "Y" button tells you how to make it a resident pinata. Visiting requirements remain a mystery until the first pinata of that type shows up, but there are some ways to attract new pinata species.

Instructions

    • 1

Raise your gardening level. An Arocknid appears at Gardening Level 6, and an Eaglair appears at Level 33. Other pinatas appear at different level milestones.

    • 2

Plant flowers, bushes, trees and vegetables to attract pinatas. A Bunnycomb appears if you have a carrot in the garden, a Buzzlegum arrives if you have two or more buttercups and a Taffly appears when you have any flower in the garden. Plant each new type of seed you receive from Seedos to attract new species.

    • 3

Keep a variety of pinatas in your garden, as some pinatas are attracted by others. A Jameleon appears when you have Flutterscotches in three different colors, and a Buzzenge arrives if you have at least one Candary.

    • 4

Change the terrain of your garden, adding long grass or digging ponds. A Newtgat appears when 2 percent of your garden is water, and a Syrupent appears when 1 percent of your garden is grass.

    • 5

Visit Petula's Paper Pets shop in the village to buy domestic pinatas like the Kittyfloss and Barkbark. Domestic pinatas don't appear in your garden on their own.

    • 6

Tame sour pinatas to make them resident. Highlight a sour pinata, like a Sour Bonboon or Sour Shellybean, and press the "Y" button to learn how to tame it.
