Ghosts' Weaknesses in Oblivion

Destruction Spells

• Although three types of destruction spells exist in "Oblivion" (fire, frost and shock), only fire and shock are effective against ghosts. Fire spells include Burning Touch, Immolating Blast and Firestorm. Shock spells include Electrocution, Flash Touch and Shocking Burst. Players buy destruction spells from Mage's Guilds, which are found in every city in the game. Players can buy destruction spells in magic shops, including Mystic Emporium and Edgar's Discount Spells in the Imperial City's marketplace.

Silver Weapons

• Silver weapons do significant damage to ghosts, and are commonly found once a player reaches level 4. Silver items include the longsword, shortsword, dagger and mace. Players buy silver weapons in The Best Defense and A Fighting Chance in the Imperial City marketplace. The Fighter's Guild in Leyawiin stores a silver longsword which is free to guild members. Silver daggers are often found in Mage's Guilds, and all guards carry silver longswords.

Enchanted Weapons

• Enchanted weapons use magic. All staffs are enchanted, and all ordinary weapons can be enchanted at Mage's Guilds and magic shops. Sigil stones can create enchanted weapons once the player begins closing Oblivion gates. Enchanted weapons are found in caves and ruins, and players can buy them in shops such as The Mystic Emporium and Rindir's Staffs in the Imperial City. Enchanted items must be recharged often in order to be powerful.

Daedric Weapons

• Daedric weapons are the most powerful, and are found only after a player reaches level 20. Daedric weapons include: longsword, claymore, war axe, bow and mace. Daedric armor helps protect players from ghosts, and can be found on marauders and vampires in ruins and caves. Daedric weapons and armor can also be found in Oblivion gates. Daedric weapons cannot be purchased, but are awarded to players who complete "Daedric Shines" quests.
