     Create a garden that is 40 percent water to make the chippopotamus appear.

     Add more water to the garden to bring it up to 50 percent water and plant 14 bullrushes, 14 watercresses or 14 water lilies to make a chippo visit your garden.

     Increase the water in your garden to at least 60 percent and allow a visiting chippopotamus to eat 10 bullrushes, 10 watercresses and 10 water lilies to make it a resident.
