How to Rank Up in Call of Duty 4 for XBox 360

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" expands the "Call of Duty" franchise by introducing a new online ranking system. As you engage the enemy in various online game modes, experience points appear on the screen. Your level increases after gaining a certain number of experience points. As you gain levels, you can unlock new weapons and perks, which can increase your damage and utility. You can gain experience points the fastest by playing certain game modes and completing challenges.

Instructions

  Kill the enemy in Team Deathmatch. Each kill awards 10 experience, while an assist awards two. An assist occurs when you inflict damage on the enemy, but another teammate kills him.

  Play "Search and Destroy" matches. The Search and Destroy game mode places players on two teams. When the game begins, one side must search for and defuse a bomb, while the other side plants and protects the bomb. Killing an enemy in this mode awards 50 experience, while assists count for 25. However, if you die, you do not respawn, unlike in other game modes. Because respawns are disabled, Search and Destroy matches typically end faster than Team Deathmatches. As long as you don't die often, you will rack up more points in a quicker span of time. If you're lucky enough to plant or defuse the bomb, you will gain 100 experience.

  Look at your challenges, in the "Barracks" menu. Identify which challenge you want to work on, such as achieving 10 headshots with a sniper rifle, and complete that challenge. Challenges award more points than kills, but the number of points varies depending on which challenge you complete.

  Achieve a kill streak. Kill streaks unlock one-time special abilities, such as calling in an airstrike. When you use the ability, you are awarded points.
