Fatalities and Hara Kiris
"Mortal Kombat: Deception" includes the series' "Fatality" finishing moves. After beating your opponent, you're given a few seconds to assume a proper stance and enter a secret button sequence. Enter the combination correctly to see a cut-scene of your character killing the loser in a creatively gruesome way. Each character has multiple "Fatality" finishers. "Deception" also features "Hara Kiri" moves. If the losing player enters his character's "Hara Kiri" button combination in time, the losing character kills himself, denying their opponent a "Fatality" attempt.
Character and Level Selection
To choose a random character, go to the character selection screen and highlight Scorpion. Press "up" and "A" or "up" and "Start" instead of simply pressing "A" or "Start," as you would to normally select a character. Press the "black" button while you're in the character selection screen in the "Versus" or "Practice" modes to pick your arena.
Unlockables
Literally hundreds of secrets are unlockable in the game's "Krypt." "Krypt" contains chests with a coin type and amount on it. To open that chest, you need that amount of that type of coin. For example, a chest with a green coin next to the number "50" means you need 50 jade coins to unlock the chest. Coins are collected in most game modes. Aside from unlocking secret costumes, arenas and moves for the character Shujinko, you also unlock the characters Jade and Noob-Smoke through the Krypt.
Konquest Mode
In "Konquest Mode," the player goes through an adventure game with its own separate story. Beating Konquest Mode unlocks the mode's main character, Shujinko, for the fighting modes. The characters Havik, Lui Kang, Kira, Sindel, Li Mei, Hotaru, Raiden, Tanya and Kenshi are all unlockable. They are hidden in chests throughout the various worlds of the Konquest Mode.
