How to Pick an Average Lock in Oblivion

"Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" is a PC game that falls into the fantasy genre. As you navigate your character through the game, you will periodically need to pick locks on chests, doors and other items. The act of picking a lock isn't that complicated once you get the hang of it. Average locks in particular can be picked and opened in just a few seconds with the right know-how.

Instructions

  Walk your character up to the lock on the chest or door that you are trying to pick.

  Select your "Lock Pick" item from your character's onscreen inventory. This will begin the process of attempting to pick the lock.

  Move your mouse from left to right several times across your mouse pad or computer desk. This will raise the first pin on the lock. Watch for the pin to move all the way into the "up" position. When it does, you will hear the click of the pin locking into place. Click your left mouse button anywhere on the screen to secure the lock into the up position.

  Repeat this process for the rest of the pins in the lock you are trying to pick. As you lock a pin into the up position, your character will move on to the next pin. When all the pins are up, the lock will open.
