Your gamertag is your username on the Xbox Live service and in multiplayer games on the Xbox 360. Microsoft allows you to change your gamertag once for free (subsequent changes cost 800 Microsoft Points (as of June 2011)). You can easily modify your gamertag by accessing the profile editor options available via Microsoft's Xbox website. It will only take a moment to complete.

Open your Web browser and navigate to the Microsoft Xbox website.

Click "Sign In" and enter your Xbox Live account credentials.

Click your gamertag in the right corner, select "Edit Profile" to open the profile editor.

Click "Change Gamertag."

Enter the new gamertag, click "Change Gamertag," then "Save."
