How to Create a Full Body Avatar

When "Kinect Fun Labs" was first released in June 2011 for the Xbox 360, Xbox Live users were given a hub to test out new ideas for the Kinect peripheral. In "Kinect Me," players are able to create a full body Avatar character that closely duplicates your facial features, body structure and clothing. This Avatar is modeled after your body and controlled by your movements. "Kinect Me" is perfect for making lifelike, full body scans into characters and sharing them with your Xbox Live friends.

Instructions

  Download "Kinect Fun Labs" from the Kinect Hub. The software is free and is bundled with "Googly Eyes" and "Kinect Me."

  Enter the "Kinect Fun Labs" by hovering over the icon with your hand and start "Kinect Me" from the "My Gadgets" menu. From the "Kinect Me" menu, you can pick from the "Play Now," "My Posts," "Friends Posts" and "Like this Gadget?" options.

  Select your storage device and hover over "Start" with your hand to begin creating your Avatar.

  Choose a male or female option.

  Stand in the center of the facial frame to scan your head and neck. When the red outline turn green, hold still while "Kinect Me" scans your features.

  Stand back and hold your arms out while standing inside the red dotted lines to scan your body. Holding still when the lines turn green helps "Kinect Me" to get a clearer image for your Avatar.

  Decide if you want glasses or a ponytail. "Kinect Me" will produce your custom Avatar.
