How to Recover a Modded Gamertag

The Microsoft Xbox 360 console uses gamertags, the console's equivalent of a profile username. Some players elect to modify their gamertags for aesthetic purposes. For example, you can modify your gamertag to display blue font or Xbox 360 controller buttons in front of your tag. Like regular profiles, you may accidentally delete your modded tag or want to put it on another console. You can recover your modded tag, but it will not transfer the mods along with it.

Instructions

  Press the silver guide button on your controller. Wait for a menu to appear on your television screen.

  Press "Down" on the left analog stick until you highlight "Recover Gamertag." Press "A."

  Type in the login information for the profile you wish to recover. This means you must type in the email address and password associated with your account.

  Wait for the console to recover the gamertag. This may take several minutes. Once complete, the console reboots and you can log in to your profile again.
